I am a firm believer in the axiom that no good deed goes unpunished and such is deed that brings me here.

I recently flushed the tank on my 3 year old A.O. Smith water heater and, for the first time, opened the PRV to allow for a release of the vacuum as I drained and refilled the tank. As luck would have it, now the PRV is slowly leaking and I am wondering if I've "screwed the pooch" and need to order a replacement or is there a way to try and get the thing to reseat itself?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Yep. The pooch has been screwed... :)

I would just replace it, be done with it and not fret over it. Can't cost very much, and once the leak has started it just gets worse.

They tell you in the manual to open the prv once in a while to make sure its working. Ya right. I think their in cahoots
with the prv maker. I tell customers that if they want to replace it then go ahead and open it.
