Sign of the Crab Tub Faucet Diverter

I Have the Sign of the Crab tub faucet that is the telephone style. It has the Handle in the middle that you can divert from shower wand to tub. It froze and I was able to get it off. Before I put it back together should I apply some sort of lubricant so it does not happen again. I have included a picture of the diverter.

yes you can apply whats called HEAT GREASE its made by radiator specialties I'm sure it goes by more names i use it all the time on exactly what your showing makes maintenance so much easier
