Shower trim kit for existing valve - help!

We purchased our home in March and have been renovating but went to leave the existing shower in the master bathroom and just change the trim since it was updated not too long ago. I got a moen set and the contractor just told me the trim doesn’t work with our valve. I removed the handle and took a photo of the valve I believe they said it was American standard. I want a matte black shower head and handle. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Replace the valve in the wall or call American Standard and see if they offer the trim color you want for your existing valve.

Pull all the trim off and I might can. I can’t like it is now.

You could send the parts off of your existing faucet and have them plated the color you want.

I’ve never done that, I’ve heard of people who have. Sounds legit but probably not as durable as a factory finish, but again, I have no first hand experience.

I had one lady that spray painted her trim…..I laughed at her and she got mad.

Thanks @Twowaxhack here are a couple more photos from the hall bathroom. We redid the whole bathroom so you can see the valve better. It was the same trim/valve as our master bathroom but the contractors didn’t save the old valve . I actually just looked up how to spray paint it too as a last resort it shouldn’t be too bad. Also the handle falls off easily so that’s annoying. Thanks for your help!
