I am afraid I already know the answer but hoping for another suggestion. I noticed a couple of weeks ago my shower was draining slow in the main bath. I poured draino a few times both crystals and liquid with no help. I mentioned to my wife...."have you been placing your tampons down the toilet" and she replied YES....I have 3 women in the house and they have all been told NOT to do this. Two years ago it was my daughter doing this and I rented a big snake and broke finger using the machine.

Does it sound like I need to snake it out or is there a chemical I can use?

Thanks

This is where everyone on the forums screams at you about how using chemicals is never a good idea, just so you know :)

Now that we have that out of the way, lets look at possible other issues first. You have three women in the house. My first thought is that since it is only your shower that has issues it is likely you have a hair clog the size of a large cat. Go to your local home improvement store and pick up a zip-it tool (they are like two bucks) and use it on your drain. Have a garbage bag ready. Also, wear gloves since the mass of hair is now coated in various corrosive chemicals that should not be mixed.

ouch! I did not know about the chemicals but I am ready for my butt to whipped...it does not hurt so bad on line but I can understand.

I will go to my local hardware store and get one. I did try a plunger and a bunch of trash keeps coming up....

well. I bought the zip-it and did not get ANYTHING on it at all....any other suggestions?

I ran my Ridgid snake down the drain and everything is back in working order....thanks!

Wow, I'm amazed you didn't get a hairball. Means your drains are plumbed well though.

Definitely gotta get on the ladies about feminine products in the pipes. A fairly common problem that can be easily avoided.
