Hi all
I have a tap head that I was trying to remove from its spindle when I accidentally snapped it off. Pics attached, showing The one I didn't break and the one I did. The question I have is how to get the napped off remains of the spindle out of the head, and which spindle I need to get to replace it? Any help much appreciated - I'm a complete newbie to plumbing diy! Thanks

Mr. Timginger,

you have a mess . question is Mr Tim, Is the handle replacement readily available ?

if so, replace the stem, and handle's both, so they match

IF not available, oddity or antique,

you need the service of a "MacGyver" type person, with a dremel and the patience, to get it out of there.

I would start out by soaking it in hot water to loosen anything holding it, then move on to heat to expand the metal

pluck it out.

or, a dremel to cut it out.

if you know a tinker'er/ macGyver person, a twelve pack of Fat tire, should get er' done !!

Pb blaster is really good at loosening corrosion between brass. Give it a try. Ive used it on faucet connection that have been froze when I had no puller. Worked good then. Not sure if it would help in this case.

I aint the sharpest tool in the tool box. but common since tells me.

if'n you were to remove the ID button. should be a hole in there for the screw to hold the handle on the stem.

simply, insert a screw, through the hole. till it makes contact with the broken stem piece.

then with a mallet or a rock hit the screwdriver as it is positioned on the screw, their by transferring the momentum from the mallet thru the screwdriver onto the screw, causing the broken stem piece to dislodge its self from the handle. and drop free

of course, attention to safety must be strictly adhered to , the use of gloves, goggles, ear protection and a fire extinguisher should be within 50' of the work area in case of sparks, which could ignite any flammable or combustible material that is near by.
a phone call to emergency personal, alerting them to be "at the ready" should be made before attempting any action,
