Hello all,
Preface: I'm handy, but I don't often dabble in plumbing.
Here's my issue: My wife and I recently purchased a home. In the basement there's a hole cut into the concrete floor exposing an old pipe with a broken cap.
This pipe connects to the sewer (probably storm water). When it rains the cap leaks rain water into the basement, minimal but gross.
I asked our plumber what to do about it assuming he would have to replace the pipe and he said to purchase a new cap. I tried to get him to take a closer look but he was sure that a new cap would do the job.
After the plumber left I pulled on the cap and it fell right out. It appears to be a test plug.
The pipe doesn't seem to have any threads, but a few inches inside the pipe is ANOTHER PIPE!
For the time being I tried to get a 3'' clean-out cover in the pipe, but it doesn't really fit as there's no threads and I could barely get it in there.
What should I do?
