Hello, I was about to hook up our new gas range (using a brasscraft universal installation kit) when I noticed rust on the threads below the shutoff valve and no pipe compound at that joint. Do these pictures look like this is a safety hazard?
I would be more concerned with the open line not being caped. Depending on just the gas valve is a bad idea. . 2nd is the bushing. Bushings are not allowed on gas lines it should be replaced with a reducing coupling.
thanks for the advice, i put electrical tape over opening until i can work on it this weekend. i'll replace the bushing with a bell reducer. is it ok that this is above the shutoff or should i have plumber install this below the shutoff?
