Wondering about the sanitary-tee and drywall. Does the hub have to be outside of the stud cavity so the drywall will go around the hub or is the hub placed in the cavity so the drywall will go around the drain pipe? Don't know if this is an issue or not but thought I should ask. Thanks.

It doesn't matter how it ends up. If it ends up behind the drywall, I always take a small piece of scrap pipe and just dry fit in the hole so I can drywall around it, then remove it in favour of a new piece when I hook up the p-trap.

To meet code, you must have a minimum 3" piece of pipe going from the p-trap to your sanitary tee, so plan ahead for that.

Thanks Matt30. That's why I asked! Great heads-up. Would have totally missed that code bit about the 3" minimum before trap.
