Hello, I recently replaced my bathtub. The overflow drain was around 1/2 inch too far to the left after I adjusted the tub drain to fit into the existing copper drain pipe. Essentially, instead of the overflow pipe being vertical, it is 5 degrees crooked. At the time I just filled in the small gap at the overflow with caulk so it didn't leak with the intention of fixing it when I did my kitchen on the floor below. Now, I have access to the ceiling below the tub. I wanted to replace the old copper drum trap and do the tub drain correctly.
Would the best solution be to cut the copper drain pipe in the red circled area in the picture and install a Fernco fitting to PVC. Then put a P Trap directly beneath the tub? Or does anyone have any better suggestions?
Thank you,
Nick
