Hello:
I have a 50 gallons direct vent gas water heater tank. I recently saw
a bit of water under my water heater tank. That got me worried because
I am afraid my tank may break and flood my basement.
I am looking into replacing the tank. However, the HVAC system I have at
home is not common. It is a high velocity heating and air conditioning
combo system. It is a tempmizer high velocity HV 52. It uses as heat
source the hot water from the water heater tank.
My question is:
Is it possible to replace only the water heater tank ? Or will this
require replacing both the tempmizer furnace and the water heater tank ?
I tried to call a few plumbing contractors. I explained to them that
I want to replace my tank but the system I have at home is a combo
system. Many of them have no experience with that configuration.
One contractor told me that I cannot replace only the hot water tank
but I have to replace both the hot water tank and the tempmizer furnace.
With that said, I no longer see any water under my tank. The tank is
only 8 years old. So maybe it is a false alert.
Thanks
