Hi all...I am new to this forum but I am delighted to be part of this community. I am looking forward to sharing DIY projects as well as comments and solutions.

Here is my dilemma: I have a Wooford faucet RK-14MH outdoor faucet. I have replaced washers and packing but still have a smell leak coming out of the faucet mouth. So I believe that the seat is the problem. The seat is not replaceable. I would have to cut the copper pipe, purchase couplers, etc., in order to repair with a whole new faucet assembly.

I would like to know if I can just not mess with the copper piping with the nonreplacable seat and just purchase a type of faucet that I can replace the Wooford faucet with and leave the copper pipe and non replacable seat intact.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and comments.

The seat is located inside the copper water pipe and is non replacable. The usual way to repace a leak with this type of Wooford faucet is to replace the packing and the washer at the end of a rod that can be taken out of the copper pipe containing the seat. I have done this but still have a little leak which appaently can only be traced to the seat. I do not want to cut the copper pipe but just want to leave the seat in and just replace with a new faucet if that is possible.

Thanks for you response

Hello CT18...Thanks so much for getting back to me. I will try to clarify. I do not mean the rubber valve seat that you mentioned. I did change that along with the new rubber packing washer.

I am refering to the seat inside the copper pipe that is nonreplacable and is the seat that the rubber valve seat touches when you turn on or off the water. If this item is corroded or imperfect, then the rubber valve seat will not seal and a drip will continue to leak out of the faucet mouth.

I am trying to bypass the replacement of the copper pipe with that item inside the pipe that is nonrepalcable without cutting the pipe and to find a new facet that will work with the seat inside the copper pipe and the copper pipe intact.

I hope this makes a little sense. Thanks for your response and if you have any ideas please let me know as well others who may offer assistance.

You're gonna be replacing the whole thing.

Hi all and thanks for your comments. Yes, I also believe that I will need to replace the whole unit. I was just hoping that I could remove the Wooford faucet head from the pipe going into the house...but I cannot do that because the pipe connected to the faucet head going in to the house is connected to the faucet head and is not removable. It is one unit.

Thanks again for your comments. You are all so kind to assist.

Hi again guys: Thanks for getting back to me. My wooford is one unit and the fauset head cannot not be removed from the attached copper pipe that extends into the wall. The whole unit will need to be replaced.

But good news. I did find an access panel that when removed I can see where the copper pipe from the faucet head is attached to the copper pipe in the wall...got lucky. But if you can confirm this...can the end of the copper pipe coming from the faucet head be unscrewed from the pipe in the wall for removal of the whole unit and then replace and screw into the copper pipe in the wall?

If this is the case then this is a pretty straight forward fix...a little expensive...but doable without cutting the copper pipe and the use of couplers, etc.

Thanks again and your comments are very appreciated.
