Hi there. I'm doing a simple and minor kitchen remodel myself. I'm pretty handy but am a novice plumber. I'm running into an issue that I can't seem to figure out and don't want to start cutting things before I'm fully informed. I removed the old sink in our kitchen and revealed a PVC drain and trap connected to a cat iron waste line. All but one section of the PVC are glued and the transition from PVC to cast iron looks like a proper fitting but it's glued together with a green colored cement. I want to install a new sink and replace the drain system from the new sink to the waste line.
I feel like I have a couple of options. I could:
A: try to remove the transition fitting from the PVC to the Cast iron. This would be the ideal situation I think as I could start fresh.
B: cut the PVC right after the transition and continue from there
C: try to reconnect the new sink to the existing setup.
I've attached a couple pictures of the whole drain setup and hopefully it helps explain. Thanks in advance!
