Hi all,
We just moved into a new house and discovered that the angle valve coming out of the wall didn't fit with the hose coming out of the back of the refrigerator. The hose we have is the standard 1/4 inch size and the valve is too big for the hose to fit around it. Is there some sort of adapter I can attach to the valve to get it to the size we need?
I've already asked at Home Depot about this and they suggested simply replacing the valve. Great idea, except we can't get the valve off the pipe. It turns with a wrench but it doesn't ever get any looser. My husband turned it for fifteen minutes and it never got any looser, so not sure what the deal is there. Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Erin

looks like maybe a half-inch compression fitting. You would install a short piece of copper pipe that fits the valve with a compression fitting, then get a compression-compression adapter to go from the pipe to the smaller fridge hose.

Go back to the box store and get a brass compression nut and sleeve ( about $1 ) and check that it fits, and go from there.

Change the valve, I think the connection on the copper pipe has been compromised by turning it round and round for 15 minutes.

Thanks so much everyone! We got the adapter Frodo suggested and it works perfectly!
