After 20+ years of use of the green sand filtration system, I had a new system installed. Everything still worked despite the green sand media had never been replaced. I figured that technology had improved in two decades and looked forward to not having to deal with potassium permanganate. Local well company installed an UV system. The question I have about the new installation is that on the old system, there was a 20” filter BEFORE the green sand tank. New system has the 20” filter between the filtration tank and the UV component. (see photo)
In the past when I replaced the 20” filter there might be 1/4 cup of silt/sand in the bottom of filter canister. I now worry these sediments are filling up in the filtration tank. I would like some suggestions before I contact the company that installed the UV system.
