Since its all open now why don't you put in a washing machine box that has the drain and water valves. Looks nice too.
Guy Gray makes a good box.
I did exactly that and closed it back up months ago! I will be adding the pedestals next to raise the washer and dryer, building in a cart garage for the pictured cart also. It ill have a counter top for folding and a few other odds and ends and then the painter will come in and paint it all.

If your raising your machine , you may want to think about a drain pan under your washer with a drain on the pan if your washer fails in anyway.

Here are the pedestals that I will put the washer and dryer on. They are on their side in this picture, they each have a nice drawer. Is there more reason for the pan specifically when you raise the washer? I did buy one of those plastic pans with a drain hole which I could easily run a length of pipe to the basement workshop sink directly under the washer. However my wife and I are wanting to have a really nice laundry room and boy is that pan ugly! Please give me any thoughts about using the pan, I am on the fence.
