Hi all, I’ve been recently trying to fix my very old shower valve. I believe it is a glacier bay valve. Volume and temperature control are split in two handles. There is no hot water coming out. I changed the cartridge and that was not the problem. I’m currently trying to remove the pressure balancing spool but it is seized up pretty good and I actually stripped the outside bolt. Any advice?BAA43662-F236-4285-8B9D-20A32D7DD97D.jpeg

Are you using standard sockets or metric????, There are sockets out there that you use on stripped bolts, but be careful your working with brass, have you contacted glacier bay to see if they have that part?????????

I’m using a standard socket. I was thinking of buying the bolt extractor to use with my drill but I wanted to see if there were any suggestions on how to loosen it out or break up some of the calcite before trying it. Danco makes a replacement part that should fit. My biggest issue is getting it out first

I would use a chisel, hammer side on the brass chisel end use a hammer, it might loosen if yo give it a few god wacks, you could use the chisel ontheflat sides of the brass but you will more than likely damage it, don't buy danco, stick with brand names

Impact wrench with a damaged bolt remover socket attached
