I try to solder the Grohe value 3.0 35117 to copper pipes. Before soldering I had to remove synthetic material such as service stops, cartridge, diverter but this part is behind the diverter and hard to be moved out. I don't know the material the parts made from and do I need taking it out before soldering? Please advise. Thank s in advance!

I reviewed the install instructions and there’s no mention of soldering or removing that piece.

Get a wad of wet paper towels that are wet but not dripping. Stiff into the valve.

Orient the valve so that when you’re soldering the heat will rise away from the valve body. Completely cool the entire valve down between each port that you solder the pipe into.

You can also buy a commercial heat paste that will stop the heat transfer.

Proceed with caution and do not over heat the valve.
