boise,
I want to join 1/2 copper to pex. I dont want to use the shark things. What kind of
compression fitting would be a good strong connection that wont leak.???dont want to solder..

Brass compression ferrules would tend to cut into the pex pipe. However they do make plastic ferrules that would work on the pex pipe but you may have a tough time finding them. Also compression fittings are not approved in areas that are not accessible. As others have said soldering a joint is the preferred way to make the change over.

what I meant is use a adaptor that joins onto the copper with a compression fitting...then cinch to PEX on the other end.. I assume you could get that....I have had no trouble with the cinch stainless rings for PEX. Maybe people need to use some kind of insert in the copper pipe prior to compressing. Like they do with plastic pipe and compression fittings.
