I solicit opinions on the Rheem Marathon water heaters. They seem almost too good to be true, since they provide a lifetime tank warranty, rather than the 10 years (plus or minus) or most other units, at a cost that is not all that much higher.
Their claims of "extraordinarily low heat loss" (from the tank) seem a little silly though, as the EFs are in the low 90s (0.92 or so), pretty comparable to AO Smith's Promax Plus and less than the Conservationist (at 0.95). Although certainly the Marathon tank LOOKS like it'd be better insulated.
