I bought an old house and one of the first things i did is have the hole house re wired and re plumbed. I added a bathroom and laundry room in the basement that works off of one of those barrels with a pump in it forget what it is called. Any way when we try to do laundry or anything that makes the pump run in the basement the up stairs bathroom starts to smell like sewage. Anybody got any ideas what is going on? The company that put it in just keeps making excuses why they cant come back and fix it so im thinking i got screwed.

the "barrel" should have 2 pipes connected to it.
one is a drain connected to a pump inside the barrel, the other is a vent connected to the barrel itself.
trace the lines. then take a picture of where they connect to other piping.
post the pictures here
