I am replacing a very old kitchen faucet that is attached to the feed lines beneath the sink. The copper feeds are directly connected to the hot/cold taps. Is it now necessary to add compression lines to each tap?

The modern standard is braided stainless steel flex connectors, and they do rely on nut with internal washer.
There must be a good valve for each side.

Many thanks . . . I'll get the connectors and install the faucet. My concern is that the pressure remains good -

The nice thing about using flex connectors on a remodel job is that you can install them on the faucet before mounting it on the sink. It is usually not easy to install the connectors to a faucet already mounted on the sink because of the limited access below the sink.

how would you screw the nuts on that hold the faucet to the sink if you put the water lines on first? I realize some you can but traditionally you can’t do that.

My bad. I was thinking about the jobs where we mounted the faucet to the sink, then installed the connecters and then installed the sink.
