Hi,
I'm stumped. We were going to install window wells, we started to dig, and this is what we found. It is approx. 16" away from exterior of home, looks about 3" in diameter and approx. 12-18" underground. It extends, horizontally, the length of the home ( Could be more than that, I really don't know) . It is either galvinized pipe or cast iron, and has this cement, rubbery coating around, what looks to be, the joint. We have only lived in the house approx 1 1/2 years but, it was built in 1966, it's a one story, with full basement and sump pump. We've been told by a neighbor that prior to 1966, when this house was built, there was another house ( 2 story) , that burnt down. Oh, and the town provides municipal water and sewer services. The only thing I have in front of the house is a sewer cleaning pipe that look terra cotta/clay, about 8" round curving straight down. Our main water shut-off is in the basement ( just a 1 1/2" pipe on wall). Thank You in advance for sharing your knowledge!! Any help is greatly appreciated!
