That would be going the wrong way (i think). I need to increase the low side pressure when it gets to low. In other words; bleed off the high pressure (hard water) when the low pressure (soft water) sides drops to low.

My thought is to pipe a bypass in with the PRV in the bypass. When the pressure drops on the soft side, the PRV should open and allow water through. You should be able to adjust the PRV to open at the pressure differential you desire.

PRV? pressure relief valve? Doesn't that sense pressure on the high side (hard water)? Then open when the pressure is to high?

PRV, pressure reducing valve, used when the incoming pressure to a system is too high. I am not certain, but I believe that they work off of a pressure differential.
