Hello,
Please excuse me if this is the incorrect forum to post.
I have a water softener that is piped in with three ball valves to bypass it if necessary. When my sprinkler system was installed, it was done downstream of the softener, resulting in wasted salt and poor pressure to the sprinklers. Rather than repipe the entire run, I was thinking of adding something like this: http://www.smartlampshop.com/elettrovalvola-apri-chiudi-rubinetto-acqua-valvola-gas
I'm not sure if this goes by a different name in the US, but I have not been able to find something similar here.
My questions are:
1. Would this be a viable solution (have the valves turn to divert from the softener at the early morning hours when the sprinkler runs)?
2. Is there a US supplier of such a product, and what should I be looking for.
Thanks in advance

You can purchase them online. Pretty expensive and you would have to buy three. Plus always something to
go wrong. I personally think that if you have the space I would tie that sprinkler in before the softner and then
not have to worry about it and it would be cheaper in the long run. Let us know what you do.

The cost (at least from Italy) for three plus the controller would be $200-250 depending on exchange rate and shipping. The quote I got for running about 55 ft of piping to the existing sprinkler valve, adding a ball valve/drainage port on that line, and also replacing a couple of other spigots was $800.
That's why I was thinking of this route as a cheaper, easier DIY method.

The ones that I was looking at were 200 some dollars each that's why I thought it would be cheaper. This is pretty
neat talking to someone in Italy. Good luck on your project.
