I'm replacing my cast iron water lines with pex. There is currently a small section of copper 1/2" that has a saddle valve for the icemaker supply line. How do you do this on a pex line?

Half inch tee, then a half inch pex by 1/4 compression angle ball valve, or straight ball valve depending on what you want.

And make sure if your ice maker line is plastic use a plastic ferrule for compression. Better yet if it's not a far run use steel braided.

Line is long now, but I can shorten it to about 6' with the tubing runs. I'll go with the braided steel. Thank you, very much. Seems so simple. Don't know why that didn't dawn on me, I'm using the same thing for kitchen faucet.(3/8 instead of 1/4)

Luckily, we have a plumbing supply warehouse in town. None of the national chain stores have any variety of pex fittings. 1/2 " copper to 3/4" pex? Why would you need that when you can just buy 2 fittings to make the transition? I try to avoid anyone who works there when I go to Home Depot or Lowes.
