I want to re-connect a hot water radiator. there are two plugged pipes, how can I tell which is supply and which is return?

If it's a two pipe system or a one pipe mono-flow system it doesn't make any difference. I'm assuming your talking about a cast iron radiator.

Yes, cast iron radiators. I'm planning to put cast iron baseboards to replace old, huge stand-up types.
There are also the new panel types that I'm considering, I guess that feed or return wouldn't matter for them either?
