we have an old farm house(vacation place) where my wife grew up. The pump had not been priming well for some time( we use the house infrequently. This last visit no water. My wife remembers replacing the well point some 40 years ago as a child. Well we located the well and i dug it out. The pump is in the basement of the house and sucks the water in. The picture i've attached shows what found when i dug it up. What next to do?

Disconnect the line comming from the house. At the base of that fitting, there should be a series of nuts. Loosen them, but dont back them right out as they are attached to a rubber. When they are all loose, you should be able to lift it up. That line goes down to the well to the foot valve. Haul it up, then replace.
