If a house built in 1975 has an original well, should I stay away from buying it?

If possible, talk to some of the neighbors' with similar age wells, and se how trouble free they have been. In many areas a well will work for a long time, sometimes forever. Submersible pumps can last anywhere from 10 -30 years, and if it's not over 100 feet down, and you're reasonably handy, you can change it yourself.
Have it inspected. Some of the wells my grandfather drilled in the 1930's are still in use.
