New to working with gas lines. Looking for some advice from the pro's.

I have a 3/4" black pipe T in my basement that I want to connect my pool heater to. The pool heater (I bought used) has 1" threaded pipe to connect to. The T in the basement is facing into the basement so I would have to make a U-Turn with pipe and take it out through the back wall. Where is comes out of the house is under a 5' high deck.

My thought at this time is to use black pipe to make the U-Turn. But not sure what I should use to connect through the wall as it will technically be exposed to the outside. After I get it out of the house I want to run 3/8" copper out to the pool and connect it to the heater (based off the advice of the propane guy that connects tank to houses).

Does it make sense that the original owner used metal pipe on at the heater? Isn't that going to rust out. Should I replace? I have a pic of the piping on the pool heater that I can post. I can also get a pic of the basement connection.

I do not recommend that non-trained people ever work on gas lines.
So many pitfalls, and too much to teach.

Can you run a new line directly from the propane tank ?

How many BTU is the pool heater ? How far from the tank ?

3/8" for a pool heater??? Maybe a (small) fireplace insert!? @Twowaxhack is right, you'll need to find the (total) BTU's to make sure your system can support. In essence you are adding a whole 'nother furnace to your system.
