Help.. Buying home with sketchy plumbing.

We had our home inspection today and found this sketch ejector pump in the basement laundry room. The basement smelled of sewer pretty bad. It doesn't look like the pit can be sealed especially with the wall built over it. What do you think? Is this something to be concerned about? I'm sure this doesn't meet code.

You know, that is kind of scary looking. Is that a sump pump or a sewage ejector pump?

What did the home inspector say about it?
