I don't think it is that simple. It is like asking what is the best tank type heater, mostly opinion based. I would say search all the reviews you can and look into GPM at a temp rise, find out incoming water temp to your residence.
The biggest Rinnai you can buy. If you need more water than that can supply, buy two, or three.

Best to look at what the plumbers in your specific area are installing. And if a lot of plumbers are particular to one brand, then it’s likely the parts and service will be relatively easy for you for that brand.
Some of the pros here on the forum are recommending Navien; however, in my local area here in NC it is not very common. Rinnai seems to be the one all the local plumbers are installing. Where are you live, it might be the other way around.
Navien was the worst tech support I’ve ever experienced from any manufacturer……Ever.

I don’t know, since I am not a pro of course, but that could very well be the reason why Rinnai is so popular here.
When I built my deicing system, there was less variety available, and the only one that was certified for recirculation was Takagi. You don’t hear anyone talking about those anymore.

I did have the same question about 2 years ago as you do now. After reading a lot of reviews from both pro. & DIY, I decided to go to Rinnai water tankless. In fact, I know it about 6 years ago when my sister-in-law had a new house with a Rinnai water tankless (al new houses in her area had the same tankless water heater & the same model RL75IN. As I know, she hasn't had any maintenance for her Rinnai tankless since she moved to that house (like flushing & draining the unit with vinegar & water) & she hasn't had any problem up to present. It's very quite. Then I decided to purchase a RU199IN last year to replace my 32 year-old tank water heater tank. In fact, my old water heater tank still worked well 4 years ago, then started leaking. I fixed it & it continued to work for another two years, then badly leaking on the top. So everyday I collected about 5 5-gallon bucket of hot water from a pan underneath of my water heater (for about 5 months). First, I was really scared because that was the first time to install a water tankless & especially I had to deal with gas tube. I had to change 1/2" gas tube into 3/4" gas tube because all Rinnai water tankless requires 3/4" gas tube. So the hard part is the installation of gas tube, then every thing is very straight forward. Now I'm very happy with my water heater tankless. My bill dropped dramatically & sharply. With that RU199In, I got a $500.00 rebate from the energy provider company in my area.
