We're in a fairly new house not quite 3 yrs and 3rd time we've had plumber out for backing up of clogged toilet into shower. This is second time he's pulled this black paper type stuff out on the snake, this time it was considerably more than last time.

This is the master bath so it's not kids putting stiff into toilet almost looks like taper paper from construction. Plumber has no idea what it is, never seen anything likenit.

Any ideas? Any help is SO greatly appreciated

There used to be a type of sewer pipe called Orangeburg, that was basically a heavy tar paper pipe, known for it's ability to fail. But that hasn't been used in many, many years, and I don't believe it was ever used underneath a house. So that can't be your problem.

I would say some kind of construction debris, but if there were any tar paper in the pipe, it should have backed up more than 3 times in 3 years.

Quite the mystery.

That stuff is all over downtown Halifax. I've dug up many, many sewers and replaced that junk, except here it's referred to as "No-corrode".

From what I have heard about Orangeburg, It was used during WWII when iron was being diverted to the war effort.
Home builders had to come up with an alternative.

Tar paper? maybe they rolled it up and stuck it in the pipe like you would a poster in a cardboard tube. over time it swells up and causes problems.

Like FRODO Said . Camera time. Take a Looky See.
