I'm new here. I'm not a plumber but do fix plumbing odds and ends on my home.

My question pertains to my tankless water heater that was installed September of 2019. For 6 months, this unit performed flawlessly and could heat the shower and dishwasher simultaneously.

However, after 6 months, I would get an E1 gas supply code. it sounds like it lights then blows out, then beeps with E1. This code only appears when trying to restart the water heater after being on then off. If I wait about 15 minutes, it always comes back on and stays on.

I contacted Eccotemp support and they suggested I clean the thermostat needle. I've done this a few times since but it doesn't seem to remedy the issue for long, if at all. Maybe hours at most.

We have been living with it this way for almost 3 years but it would be nice not to leave the hot water on for the next person to shower.

I appreciate any and all help provided!

Make sure your gas pressure is correct. Then Call manufacturer tech support.

How would one measure the incoming gas pressure? I have read something about inches of water column.

As far as a drip leg, the attached picture is what I have. I notice other pictures of tankless heaters have a gas regulator in one form or another.

Thank you!
