Hey we’re in a bit of a pickle…

So we have this commercial property with a drain at our dock area which is on a downward hill, a mahole in our parking lot, and two sewer areas on our side of the street.

What happens is the water overflows as we’re just in the middle of the block and we’re collecting ALL the water. It floods and pools so badly, it almost gets as high as the dock and one day - it will.

We reached out to the city, and they said there’s nothing they can do and that the “storm drains are working properly”.

The other day - we had some heavy rain fall and it pooled so bad there was a car there that started floating. Our dumpster which is also in the dock area was floated and tumbled to it’s side.

What’s happening is there’s the water falling off the building + the direct rainfall itself + ALL the water from the street flooding and coming downhill to us.

What are our options? Please help.

Have you cleaned the debris out of your grate drain, and found out if it goes to a gravity drain or storm water ejector

Snaked or jetted the drain leaving the trough???

We have something similar at work were it's a loading dock I'm guessing there's lots of trash covering you drain ours goes into a storm water ejector, so anytime rain is forecast we check the drain for cleanliness
And make sure the ejector works, if it's an ejector and you are snake or jetting make sure the is someone at the ejector so the snake or jet does t get in if it's gravity just make sure it drains

I've dealt with many similar situations.
like Geofd says, if gravity, then clean it and snake it.
In many situations, there is a ejector pump. We always recommend that the pumps be 220V, duplex (meaning double pumps that toggle back and forth)
A professional plumber is needed (along with electrical contractor).

I also saw in your pictures that one of the catch basin is partially covered, I also saw the street was flooded( or part of it) that's their issue unless these were rains that the storm drains were not designed for I also saw storm drains covers dislodged from were they sit, if that's from excessive rains
Part of the issue is the city or town to make sure those are clean if their drains are overwhelmed your drains won't drain, follow the steps in my 1st post 1st
