The circled red section is where my drains exit to septic. This is horizontal, and for space reasons I need it to Y like this from both sides. My question is, how can this be done to code? I found this intersection setup and it explains, "Internal construction directs the flow from the branches at a gradual angle to prevent clogging." Does this mean when used horizontally? (I would use the middle section as a cleanout.) Or is there a better way to do this without extending this exit area pipe out by too much (I have stairs over this area). Thanks!

Most modern piping inside homes only needs to be 3", but, yes 1697676416447.png if you need the cleanout, that fitting works. A double elbow if you want to omit the c.o. . Long sweep fitting not needed for horizontal to vertical changes. Cleanouts needed on any run longer than 5" on the first floor.1697676481394.png

I believe ringofFire is using this fitting in the horizontal plane, not as a horizontal to vertical change.

I was waiting on someone to comment as I'm thinking this may be a bit of a problem. I'm thinking the best installation would be a pair of wyes in series, but ringofFire needs to minimize the horizontal dimension.

Comments?

Are you saying use the double elbow if I orient it vertical?

That wouldn’t be my choice of fitting to use.
Right, I'm trying to figure out what is best to use. Do you have a suggestion? This is used in the horizontal plane. I'm worried if I go vertical to horizontal, I won't have enough space to get the slope from the other side of the house.
