My Delta Addison faucet handle (one of the two) became corroded under the handle and needs to be replaced. Delta sent replacement parts, although they don't appear to be exact matches but before I can see if what they sent will work I need to get the old parts off.

I need to replace all the parts above the counter - the handle base and up. I know the new base has a tiny set screw that allows it to be separated from the support for the stem valve, but the one on the existing base does not appear to have a set screw anymore - I don't know if it just corroded away but I took a photo and blew it up and don't see any screw. I don't know if I need to remove the nut under the counter to get the base off or what. I was also not certain if the hoses needed to be disconnected or not to make this repair, but if they do I have no idea how to get the quick connects off.

I'm frankly baffled by this whole setup and have tried for hours but can't get the rest of the handle assembly off. I did try removing the nut under the counter with a basin wrench and that didn't work either.

Any thoughts or advice (short of calling a plumber) would be great.

Looks like you’ll need that entire side. Rough valve, trim and handle.

Call Delta back.

I have all the parts - I need to figure out how to remove the existing parts.

disconnect the water line, disconnect the hose going from the valve to the spout.

Then remove the nut underneath the countertop holding the valve.

Lift out the whole valve and install another. The new valve from delta will have the escutcheon already on it.

So you’ll need to call Delta and get the entire rough valve with trim.

You will not be replacing “ pieces “, it will come as a unit and you will also get a new handle.

Squeeze on each side of the black hose quick connect where I have marked in yellow, then pull down to remove.

Next remove the nut I have marked in red. This will allow it all to come out of the top and be replaced.

You may never get that old valve apart so you can replace the pieces. Replace the entire valve is my advice. D7C8091C-DE37-4D78-9C1D-1D76E486FBA5.jpeg

Thanks for the photo. I have tried to remove the nut as shown but it won't come off - even with some WD-40 on it. I tried using both a basin wrench and a all in one tool sold at Lowe's but the thing won't budge. The basin wrench may be too small for the nut? It is a very tight and hard to reach nut.IMG_3886a.jpg

It turns counter clockwise. You’ll just have to work with it or call a plumber.
