I am renovating my laundry area and it's time to deal with the laundry stand pipe. The attached photo shows a steel wye to a 1.5" 45 degree elbow (OD of steel pipe is ~1 7/8" which is quite close to the 1.90" of schedule 40 1.5" pipe). Then eventually down to a 1 1/4" vent pipe (OD is close to 1.66").

What I want to do is connect two wyes (on for laundry sink, one for laundry stand pipe) then above another wye for the stand pipe vent.

To do this I am planing to cut the steel pipe just above the steel 45, then either spin the stub out of the 45 or cut it with a sawsall and take the stub out in pieces. Does this sound like the right approach?

Also, what is the abs fitting called that will thread into the steel 45?

Thanks for the advice

Do you feel comfortable drilling the lead out of the bottom hub and starting over you will get rid of all of that ,you could the use oakum and lead wool and a short piece of cast iron to go back in then the use no hub clamps and pvc× no hub fittings to transition to pvc if you do replace everything you need to support the above piping so it doesn't drop first

I really didn't want to touch the main wye there. If I leave this wye in place, I don't need to worry about shutting down the drain in the house beyond when I'm working on it. I have two small children at home, and if things don't go smoothly I could be in trouble with the wife...

You can (just) see in the picture that there is a steel tee with abs threaded into it connecting the current stand pipe. I'd like to use one of those fittings to thread in to the steel 45 elbow to plumb in the new fixtures.

Just be careful when you cut not to go to deep ,when you finish put a copper cleaning fitting brush on a drill to clean the threads
You can also chase it with a tap or a steel nipple

It could work but getting pipe out of the fitting will be difficult, if not impossible.
