Bath Tub Faucet Leak

Hi All,

I am a DIY around the house. Today, I set out to fix a corroded valve stem for the hot line of Bath Tub. Before, I go to a professional plumber, I am seeking your advice on my latest trouble.

I matched the valve stem and purchased at hardware store. Danco 10l-11h/c for a Central Two valve faucet. I replaced the valve and seat. The faucet has a small leak remaining. I tried multiple times to change washer, and apply teflon tape threads of seat.

Any other ideas for fixing the minor leak? Should I try another seat?

do you know the brand of the faucet???? I have used danco parts before and have leaks/drips so if you know the brand go to the plumbing supply house with the original stem and seat

Thanks Geofd. My faucet brand is Central Brass. Correct, I got the Danco replacement part. I will try to find the original. Maybe the washer is poor quality.

Do you put Teflon tape or Pipe Sealant on the Seat threads?

I would say NO, since it's not a pipe thread (not tapered thread). The threads do not provide the seal.

I would get central brass parts....for some reason i cant see your pics....its probably my computer I usually put a food grade grease on seats/stems/bib screws anything you would take apart again

I tried rebuilding a delta faucet....simple...springs and caps...I bought danco...it leaked....I bought delta it worked fine...not sure what the difference is but in my case there was

Get the original central brass stem and seat. It comes in one package. I have always used a little dab of pipe dope on the
threads of the seat but not the stem. Don't use teflon tape. Good pipe dope has teflon in it.
