So i had to change to valve on the waterline for my toilet and i forgot to use the new compression fitting and nut that came with it so i just slid it on and tightened it down and at first it did leak a little bit so I tightened a little more and it has stopped.....Am I good if its still not leaking the next day or should I take it off and put the new ring on? Suggestions? Thanks!

Do you have copper pipe? Are you saying you left the old ferrule on the copper, then added the new valve to it, then used the old nut to squeeze the ferrule onto the new valve? A pic would save a thousand words about now.

I've done the same thing a bunch of times. You will be ok. Just make sure you've cinched the valve on pretty snug.
