I'm in a bit of a situation with my rental property. There was a break-in, and the copper pipes in the basement were stolen. I plan to replace them with PEX but need help identifying which cut pipe ends are for hot water and which are for cold. Unfortunately, there's no labeling left to guide me.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks for figuring this out? I'm wondering if there’s a reliable way to trace the lines or any methods that could help identify the correct connections without guessing.

clean up the ends, use sharkbite/push-fit with hose bibb on the end, then use a garden hose to pressurize each stub and map it out.
