This issue is my own fault, and I own it. After watching various plumbers on their youtube channels show people how to remove a water restrictor from their fixed Kohler showerhead, I did, and the water flow was much better. Here is where the problem was.
I had a type of metal diverter above the shower head, it was the kind that you PUSH a plastic head into using force and it snapped in and it then water will flow from the handheld shower. I have that I use when cleaning the tiles. After removing the restrictor, and putting back in the screen and everything else, when I turn the shower on now a bit of water will trickle out of that diverter. Again it is not a completely closed diverter with a handle to close it, it would just start working once the plastic hose end was pushed in, and I would reove it when finished. But it had just never leaked before like that with the shower running.
So now I am wondering if I bought a different kind of Metal water diverter that had a solid open and close button on it, would water still likely shoot out of that one too? If that is the case, I guess I either put a new restrictor back in the old head, buy a new showerhead (which we could use anyway) or try a diverter with a hand shower again, just a better diverter that completely seals closed when not in use . I actually want one that completely removes from the shower (if possible), but that might mean the push in kind and we arealy see what that does. Again I only use the hand shower once a week when cleaning the tile wall. I would appreciate any advice, even if it means I should have never removed the restrictor in the first place. And if it was ok, any links to a diverter and hand shower would be a bonus. Thank you for your time. (see pic for type of diverter and where it was leaking)
