So I wanted to get a community reponse to this & am open to all opinions.
I just bought a house, and the water heater is from 2000. Naturally, there is a leak; loses about 1-2 gal/day but it fluctuates. Despite the leak, there's no outstanding issues and works great, thanks to the previous owners quality caring of it since the start of the new millenium.
There is no expansion tank, and the T&P valve looks like it needs replace.
Of course, my warrantee covers would only cover the T&P valve & maybe % of labor costs. The plumber estimated $145 for an expansion tank.
So the question: is it a financially smarter choice to just completely replace water heaters or spend a fraction for repairs on a water heater thats 14 years old?
