I'm trying to install new bathroom vanity and the brass pipe that is coming out of wall is supposed to 1inch but the 1inch p trap pipe is little too lose and 1 1/4 is definitely way too big. What can be done to resolve this issue?

The p trap circled in red in attached picture was in pipe circled in blue. The original p trap pipe fits fine but it broke so needs replacement.

It's has to be either 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 tubular they are made in plastic or chrome plated brass, that adapter should come out of that tee, then you could use sch PVC,sounds like part of the tubular trap broke off inside the adapter if it won't fit in

There is nothing left inside the wall pipe. The whole tubular but it broke where it makes the round.

Are there any kind of putty or glue that can be used to secure the pipe so it doesn't leak?

Personally, I would open up that wall more and install a new stub out since you have access to it now and then you can be sure it won't leak later. You won't have to make the wall look perfect since a vanity will go there so for my own house I often will just use insulating foam and then stainless steel escutcheon to cover up any ugliness.

Thank you all for the response. I was able to unscrew the connection and replace it with one that had a washer.
