What did you do today?

Have you noted what this dept does or doesn’t do? Dept of energy? Complete waste.
The Department of Education has done more to harm our kids than just about anything else. Return education to the states and leave the Federal Government out of it. That and the teachers' unions.

On another, more positive note, I see that @Twowaxhack is back. How was your vacation or sabbatical?

Well, "WHAT I DID TODAY?"

I had a dead battery on my hybrid Lexus. Two tow trucks later, contacting a super secret technician, and I was finally able to find out how to open an electric door manually.
Should have contacted your local car thieves. They could have done it quicker and more effectively :)

Finally got new AC installed. There was a hiccup yesterday that prevented it from happening. Little miscommunication. But they showed up on time today. Fippy didn't bark or growl at them. He just walked past them-- even brushed against one guy's legs walking by. He was absolutely miserable with the heat-- he got a rash and chewed off a bunch of his fur.

I'm going to give him a bath later.
The guy even used my BigBlue leak detector spray (he thought his guy brought it in). LOL.
I changed Mom's cannula while they were working on the AC. I discovered there is a 3rd breaker involved with the AC. 2nd one from bottom on the left is for the air handler. The two bottom right ones marked AC seem to control thermostat and condenser. So I marked the label on the door of the box with AH for air handler.

Cooked for Mom and will probably take a nap soon.

Oh, and I got a free dolly with huge wheels. AC guys left it behind. JK, I called them and told them they left it and they said they'd get it next week (they were about to close for the week).

Do you have a combined air conditioner and central heat? If so, three breakers is an odd lashup indeed. Most have one large double fuse (220v) in a box outside the house for the condenser unit and one inside for the air handler and all the electronics involved with it and the furnace including the thermostat.

But you didn’t answer the question “Does it work and are you cool?”

Sorry. I have an outside condensor and an inside air handler. Outside one is a heat pump. They said it was normal for there to be 3 breakers and that the condenser often takes up 2. Not sure why.
Yes, it's working. I got to bundle up under blankets to be nice and cozy and the cats are climbing on me to cuddle. Before it was so hot I couldn't even use a sheet without getting overheated and I couldn't stop sweating. Only drawback about not sweating is that I'm having to go pee more bc I'm no longer sweating out all the water I drink. LOL.

Yesterday we went to a discount clothing store, Kohls, and was hit in the face by the current administration's rampant rise in costs. A pack of four, cheap "tidy whities" costed $46. Where can bargains be found these days?

Yes Hanes is fine. I’ll try Amazon next time and thanks for the tip. Kohl’s branded stuff is pretty flimsy truth be told.

I was on a “have to purchase or else” mission with my wife and she would not be denied!

I guess they want to make sure our supply ensures our ability for a daily update / refresh. Lol....
Agreed LOL. That and they do not want to be embarrassed by their man's holey underwear if he happens to get into an accident or get caught up in an episode of COPS where they have to remove your outer pants for some reason.

Why would you eliminate the department of education? I have grandkids, the most important thing for this country to remain competitive is education.
It seems we differ profoundly on our sources for facts. Suggest you avoid fake news, especially since our country has just chosen the way out of the liberals morass.

Our local schools suck. You basically can’t fail but you also don’t learn anything. My kids can take a test 2-3 times if they don’t pass it 🤣. It’s a complete joke. Where I went to school you took a test once and that was that. I’m currently in litigation with my local school system. I’m holding them accountable and it’s not being very well received by the teachers, school or the school district.

Our local schools here in Loudoun County, VA, also suck but for a variety of reasons. Kids are graduated reading well below grade level and their STEM scores are, in a word, deplorable.

It's going to take the states themselves to fix this and not a federal bureaucracy.

Speaking of underwear, when I started losing weight, it seems buying underwear that fit was a weekly concern. I saw 5 packs of boxer briefs go from $19 to $49. I must have spent $400 in different sizes as I lost inches in my waist.

A few weeks ago, I went to buy shoes at a New Balance Factory Store, and saw they had a 3 pack of boxer Briefs for $4.00. I bought 3 packs, came home and washed them, and tried them on. Damn I love the fit, but then realized they don't have a "pee hole" fly!

Now I know why they were so cheap!

I feel old and weak. Yesterday I had an extended battery pack for a UPS I purchased off eBay delivered by FedEX. The young woman refused any assistance that I had offered to help her put it in the garage. She shouldered the entire 120 pound box over her left shoulder and set it gently on the garage floor without breaking a sweat. It took me over an hour just to remove each of the two 50 pound battery packs so I could get the thing indoors!

Once again, I feel old and weak…..
