I'm wondering if anyone out there has any information regarding Wayne shallow well pumps. More specifically, will a pump head that had a 3/4 hp motor behind it bolt up, and function, with a 1/2 hp motor from another Wayne pump. Any of you cold climate pipe wrenchers probably know what I'm up to, and how I came to quest for knowledge. Every Winter and Spring I accumulate several pumps from people that had the misfortune of blending extreme cold, water, and plumbing fixtures. Sometimes the pump head is cracked. Other times they'd head is pushed away from the motor; which breaks the mounting ears on the motor flange. I would like to combine the good heads with the good motors. I am just too busy to experiment right now. So I'm reaching out to any other people that aren't part of the "throw it away world".

As long as the connections are the same it is OK to put a larger motor on a smaller HP pump. But it is not good to put a smaller motor on a larger HP pump as it will make the motor overload.

Thank you for the information Valveman, but what I was actually asking was if they would physically match up? Are the flanges the same, or close enough?

I truly do appreciate you taking the time to offer a reply, but I don't think you get what I was asking. That's alright though because I was just trying to save myself some time. I'll have the answer once I've had a chance to try a mix and match. Then I'll post my findings.

Even though the 1/2HP motor will overload trying to spin a 3/4HP pump, they may match up. If the first letters in the model numbers are the same the face of the motors will be the same.
