That was an enjoyable read and glad to see you found your cover! But an inquiring mind was just curious, what's up with your gas valve installed with the on/off handle up against the wall like that? Another 1/2 turn would have made that a little more user friendly, not?
This exterior water heater had to be added when we purchased the house, so an old plumber friend took the entire job so I could do other things. His price was dirt cheap, but he really didn't have the skill to install the gas line correctly. We are no longer friends, so I need to completely rebuild the gas line to also include a drip leg, which he failed to add. Fortunately, our gas is really clean so most people in my area don't even waste the time to install drip legs, but I will be adding one soon.
