Hello-

The home I moved into has a soft water machine. I could not tolerate the smell and taste of the water so I turned off the softener almost 2 months ago (turned the bypass valve and shut off the machine).

The hot water still has that soft water smell/taste. How do I get rid of that and why does it still smell after all this time? Sediment build up in the water heater? I would think the smell/taste would be gone by now.

Appreciate any advice.
Thank you!

Yes, replace your anode and also drain the tank down and then flush it out. A lot of times you will get a rotten
egg smell with this problem.
