Washer backs up into laundry room sink

We did not experience this issue with our original washer.

I asked a repair guy what he thought, explained the old/original washer did not this (repair guy had to replace a valve asm), could it be this washer had a higher flow rate pump? He said that would cause it to back up into the sink.

The sink drains fine when running the faucet.

Any ideas?

Need to see how your washer drain is plumbed, but yes, modern washing machine have a larger flow rate than older washers. The current washing machine standpipe code is 2" and it was 1 1/2".

Most likely need the drain cleaned.
