I have a question for those of you who have experience with wall mounted Toilet carriers
I had an issue with a wall mounted water closet.
The original installer had added 2 layers of 5/8"drywall behind the bowl on the wall to fill a gap.
It was presumed that the original installer did not know how to use back nuts and washes to adjust and the position of the bowl.
The face of the drain fitting was flush with the drywall.
I procured a set of nuts and washer to properly support & adjust the position of the bowl.
I discovered that the lower pair of bolts where not centered with the drain.
About a 3/8" below centerline. This prevented the grove on the back side of bowl from alignment with the drain.
Therefore preventing the drain face from properly seating into the wax seal.
I needed to get this toilet mounted and back into service.
I spent 4 hrs pulling and clearing the drain last Friday.
The face of this drain does not look like it was adjustable.
It protrudes from the wall about 1-1/4" from the main finished wall.
( 5/8" x 2 layer of drywall to fill gap).
I'm guessing the original installation of the carrier was to close to the finished wall and maybe the adjustable nipple was omitted entirely.
If I had opened the wall to expose carrier would it be very likely that the bolt pattern could have been adjusted to centerline of drain?
I am not pleased with how I left it. I spent 4 hrs previously and another 3 more dickin' with it to reinstall it.
I did re-hang it with back support nuts/washers.
So it is not resting on drywall spacers, but setting against washers backed up by nuts.
