Hi all,
I signed up especially to try and figure out what on earth has happened to our water system after the water was cut off for a few hours yesterday.
I live in Bulgaria and although the plumbing in the house is good, there is no way of saying if there isn't any....well, quirkiness going on with the way they plumb things in.
Water came back on around 5pm and as our house is half dug into the slope of the hill, the bathroom and hot water heater is downstairs, kitchen upstairs.
We noticed no water was reaching the downstairs, yet the kitchen and outside tap were working at full pressure.
We thought it was an air lock so tried to purge the system by blocking the working kitchen tap (mixer) and that did indeed allow water to flow at full pressure to the downstairs.
However, this is only possible when the kitchen tap is opened up. When we close the tap, the water stops downstairs.
Of course, this wasn't the case before yesterday!
Now, for some reason (I'm certainly no expert) with the kitchen blocked, the water is now coming out of opposite taps. Hot now coming out of cold and vice versa....even the toilet is refilling via the hot water.
We're really at a loss as to how to fix this.
We believe we have cleared any air lock (as the water now flows freely downstairs) but maybe there just simply isn't the pressure coming into the house from the water company after whatever they were doing yesterday to allow water to reach the downstairs like it did before, without the kitchen tap turned on.
Does any of what I am saying ring any bells for you guys?
Any sort of idea would really help my understanding....I'm not one to join a group and leech information, I really need my brain to understand what is happening here and to fully understand the plumbing system in this house.
Any clues AT ALL, I'd be greatly indebted to you!
Kind regards
